Trunks of some of the aged tree species appear to be composed of several fused trunks. It it a physiological or anatomical abnormality ? Explain in detail.

This is due to abnormal secondary growth. Here due to anomaly. During secondary growth cortical and medullary vascular bundles are formed. Such additionally formed vascular bundles give look of fused trunks.
