It occurs inside mitochondria in the presence of molecular oxygen in most of plants and animals, called aerobes. It is divided into 4 major steps : (i) Glycolysis, (ii) Oxidative decarboxylation, (iii) Krebs. or TCA cycle, (iv) Electron transport system.
