Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Mucus (secreted by goblet cells) and bicarbonates present in the bile and pancreatic juice and that of Brunner.s glands not only lubricate the food for easy peristalsis but also protect the intestinal mucosa from acidic food, called chyme, which enters the small intestine with HCI. These provide alkaline medium.
