name the hormone responsible for the descent of testes into the scrotum , why does the faiture of the process result in sterility ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

(a) Testosterone secreted by interstitial cells of testis. (b) The scrotum acts as a thermoregulator maintaining the testis at a temperature `2^@C` lower than that of body. This protects the sperms against relatively high body temperature. Failure of testes to descend into scrotum is called cryptochidism. It causes sterility because sperm formation does not occur at the abdominal temperatures.
