Due to processes like tendency of living organisms of rapid reproduction but limited availability of food, space and ecological niches, there starts intraspecific as well as interspecific struggle for the basic needs of life. To have an upper hand in this struggle, individuals develop variations due to recombination of genes or mutations, so the population becomes heterogeneous. Natural selection operates on this heterogeneity and favours the speciation by differential and faster reproduction of individuals with useful variations. This shows that evolution and natural selection are consequences of some other processes.
