The human cells which act as factory cells for HIV are Helper T-cells (T-lymphocytes). When HIV binds CD-4 receptor of Helper T-cell by its GP-120 protein, the viral capsid remains out while its ssRNA and enzyme reverse transcriptase enter in the host cell. Its RNA synthesizes dsDNA by reverse transcription. DNA binds the host cell DNA to form a prophage and replicates alongwith it. The viral genome transcribes large number of RNA molecules, each of which gets surrounded by a proteinaceous capsid so several viral particles are produced. Macrophages also act as HIV factory.
