Classify each of the following as being ...

Classify each of the following as being either a p-type or an n-type semiconductor
a. Ge doped with In
b. `B` doped with `Si`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

(i) Ge belongs to group 14 and In belongs to group 13. Therefore, an electron deficient hole is created and its is a p-type semiconductor.
(ii) B belongs to group 13 and Si belongs to group 14. Therefore, there will be a free electron and it is a n-type semi conductor.
