An ant is crawling on the rim of a circular plank of radius 7cm. Calculate the distance and displacement of ant in (a) completing one round, (b) in completing 2.5 round and (c ) half around.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

(a) Given, radius of circular plank r=7cm
Distance travelled by ant in one circle =2`pir`
`=2xx3.14xx7=43.96cm`
Displacement in one round=zero
(b) In 2.5 rounds
Distance`=2.5xx2pi r`
`=2.5xx43.96=109.9cm`.
(C ) In half round
Distance `=(2pir)/(2)=(43.96)/(2)=21.98cm`
Displacement `=7+7=14`
