The velocity-time graphsof a car and a s...

The velocity-time graphsof a car and a scooter are shown in the figure. (i) The difference between the distance travelled by the car and the scooter in 15 and (ii) the time at which the car will catch up with the scooter are, respectively.

A

112.5m and 22.5s

B

337.5 m and 25s

C

225.5m and 10s

D

112.5m and 15s

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
a

Distance traveled by car in 15sec `=(1)/(2)(45)(15)`
`=(675)/(2)m=337.5m`,
Distance travelled by scooter in 15 seconds `=30xx15=450`
Difference of the distance travelled in 15s is
`=450-337.5=112.5m`
Let car catches scooter in time t, `(675)/(2)+45(t-15)=30t`
`337.5+45t-675=30trArr 15t=337.5rArrt=22.5` sec
