A bullet is aimed at a target on the wall a distance L away from the firing position. Because of gravity, the bullet strikes the wall a distance `Deltay` below the mark as suggested in the figure. The drawing is not to scale.
If the distance L was half as large and the bullet had the same initial velocity, how would `Deltay` be affected?

A

`Deltay` will double.

B

`Deltay` will be half as large.

C

`Deltay` will be four times larger.

D

`Deltay` will be one fourth as large.

A rifle is used to shoot twice at a target, using identical cartridges. The first time, the rifle is aimed parallel to the ground and directly at the center of the bull's-eye. The bullet strikes the target at a distance of H_(A) below the center, however. The second time, the rifle is similarly aimed, but from twice the distance from the target. This time the bullet strikes the target at a distance of H_(B) below the center. Find the ratio H_(B)//H_(A) .

A bullet is fired from a rifle that is held 1.6 m above the ground in a horizontal position. The initial speed of the bullet is 1100 m/s. Find the time it takes for the bullet to strike the ground and the horizontal distance traveled by the bullet.

A train of length L move with a constant speed V_(t) . A person at the back of the train fires a bullet at time t = 0 towards a target which is at a distance of D ( at time t = 0 ) from the front of the train ( on the same direction of motion ). Another person at the front of the train fires another bullet at time t = T towards the same target. Both bullets reach the target at the same time. Assuming the speed of the bullets V_(b) are same, the length of the train is

Statement 1 : A bullet is fired and it hits a target. An observer in the same plane heard two sounds: the crack of the rifle and the thud of the bullet striking the target at the same instant. Then the locus of the observer is a hyperbola where the velocity of sound is smaller than the velocity of the bullet. Statement 2 : If the difference of distances of a point P from two fixed points is constant and less than the distance between the fixed points, then the locus of P is a hyperbola.

A shot is fired with a velocity u at a very high vertical wall whose distance from the point of projection is x .The greatest height above the level of the point of projection at which the bullet can hit the wall is.

A soldier fires a bullet towards a fort-wall and hears the first echo after 2s. He moves a distance of 85m towards the wall, fires a bullet and hears the echo after 1.5 s. The velocity of sound is

I will never forget that day. It was a day in BSF academy at Tekanpur. We were a batch of 96 officers being taken for an intensive training in arms. Of these, 20 of us engineers and IITians. Having studied projectile motion during our school days, we were quite keen to see it being demonstrated in case of. weapons, the man showing us the demo was using an AK-47 fitted with tracer bullets. As they were fired, we could actually see them, they would emit light. First of all the man fired at the center of the target 30 m away while firing horizontally. We could actually see the bullet moving in a parabolic path and hitting 2 cm below the target. ''You see. That is what I said. For accurate firing you need to aim not at the target but slightly above.'' (g = 10 m//s^(2)) What was the initila velocity of the bullet?

A bullet is fired on a fixed target. It penetrates inside the target through distance d = 3.75 cm and then stops. mass of the bullet is m = 1 kg and of the target is M = 4 kg . Now an identical bullet moving with the same velocity is fired on the identical target which is placed at rest on a frictionless horizontal surface. Then find the distance (in cm) to which the bullet will penetrate inside the target?
