A 10 kW drilling machine is used to drill a bore in a small aluminium block of mass `8.0 `kg. How much is the rise in temperature of the block in `2.5` minutes, assuming `50% `of power is used up in heating the machine itself or lost to the Surroundings. Specific heat of aluminium ` = 0.91 J g^(-1) K^(-1)`.

A drilling machine is used to drill a hole in a 10 kg metal block. Power of the drilling machine is 1 KW and it is used for 5 minutes. If 40% of the work done by the drilling machine is converted into heat in the metal block, the rise in its temperature is (Specific heat- 0.12 cal gm^(-1).^(@)C^(-1) and J=4.2 J/Cal)

A copper block of mass 1 kg slides down on a rough inclined plane of inclination 37^(@) at a constant speed. Find the increase in the temperature of the block as it slides down through 60 cm assuming that the loss in mechanical energy goes into the copper block as thermal energy. (Specific heat of copper =420 J kg^(-1) K^(-1), g=10ms^(-2) )
