Answer the following questions, which help you understand the difference between Thomson’s model and Rutherford’s model better.
In which model is it completely wrong to ignore multiple scattering for the calculation of average angle of scattering of a-particles by a thin foil?

In Thomson’s model, a single collision causes very little deflection. The observed average scattering angle can be explained only by considering multiple scattering. So it is wrong to ignore multiple scattering in Thomson’s model. In Rutherford’s model, most of the scattering comes through a single collision and multiple scattering effects can be ignored as a first approximation.

Answer the following questions, which help you understand the difference between Thomson’s model and Rutherford’s model better. Is the probability of backward scattering (i.e., scattering of a-particles at angles greater than 90°) predicted by Thomson’s model much less, about the same, or much greater than that predicted by Rutherford’s model?

Answer the following questions, which help you understand the difference between Thomson’s model and Rutherford’s model better. Keeping other factors fixed, it is found experimentally that for small thickness t, the number of a-particles scattered at moderate angles is proportional to t. What clue does this linear dependence on t provide?

Answer the following questions, which help you understand the difference between Thomson’s model and Rutherford’s model better. (a) Is the average angle of deflection of a-particles by a thin gold foil predicted by Thomson’s model much less, about the same, or much greater than that predicted by Rutherford’s model?

Read the following information and answer the given questions. To understand the functional relationship between these phases of cell cycle Dr.N.Rao and his research associate Dr.Johnson conducted experiments on cell fusion technique. His researches revealed that the cell cycle is sequential ,unidirectional had controlled by a series of chemical signals. His experiments are considered to be a milestone in the cell cycle studies. This study threw a new hope of ray for the budding scientists to carry out reseraches on cell division. G_+1:3.5 hrs,M:1 hr are the stages in a cell cycle which occur in a manner with specific time. G_1,S,G_2 stages are collectively called……………?

To explain the nature of radiation, James Clark Maxwell in 1864 put forward .Electromagnetic wave theory.. This theory could explain the phenomena of interference and diffraction but could not explain phenomena of black body radiation and photoelectric effect. Also, after the advent of electromagnetic wave theory, Rutherford.s model of atom suffered a serious drawback. To explain the phenomena of black body radiation and photoelectric effect, Max planck in 1900 put forward Planck.s quantum theory. BAsed on this theory, Neils Bohr in 1913 put forward Bohr.s model of atom which could overcome the drawback of Rutherford.s model and also explain the line spectral elements, especially the line spectra of hydrogen and hydrogen-like particles. Which of the following statements is incorrect about electromagnetic wave theory ?
