A nucleus is at rest in the laboratory frame of reference. Show that if it disintegrates into two smaller nuclei the products must move in opposite directions.

By momentum conservation principle, total final momentum is zero. Two momentum vectors cannot sum to a null momentum unless they are equal and opposite.
