An aircraft executes a horizontal loop at a speed of 720 km/h with its wings banked at `15^@` . What is the radius of the loop ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

If N is the normal force on the wings,
`N cos theta = mg, N sin theta = (mv^2)/( R)`
which give `R = (v^2)/(g tan theta) = (200 xx 200)/(10 xx tan 15^@) = 15 km`
