Surfectant is a chemical substance present within the lung-alveolar surface tension when thoracic cavity enlarges during inspiratory phase . Few cubical cells of the inner lining epithelium of alveoli secrete this substance (phospholipid containing lipoprotein) to prevent collapse and sticking of alveolar walls also during expiration .
