Synthesis of ATP with the help of energy released directly during oxidation of a substrate of enzymatic reaction is called substrate level phosphorylation, e.g., ATP production in glycolysis during convertion of 1, 3 - bisphosphoglyceric acid to 3 - phosphoglyceric acid, in Krebs cycle during convertion of succinyl Co-A to succinic acid.
