When acetophenone containing `CH_(3)-overset(O)overset(||)(C)-`unit, is treated with `I_(2)` and `Na_(2)CO_(3)` it forms yellow precipitate of `CHI_(3)` whereas benzophenone does not give this test. Acetophenons gives iodoform test due to presence of `-COCH_(3)` group.
