In the figure shown `mu_(1),mu_(2),mu_(3),mu_(4) and mu_(5)` are the refractive
indices of the mediums 1,2,3,4 and 5 respectively. Consider
the following:
(1) `mu_(1)=mu_(2)` (2) `mu_(3)=mu_(4)=mu_(5)`
(3) ` mu_(2) lt mu_(3)` (4) `mu_(4)gt mu_(5)`
Which of the above are correct?

A

a 1 and 2 only

B

b 1,2 and 3 only

C

c 1 and 3 only

D

d 3 and 4 onnly

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
B

As the reys to not deviate on passing through concave
lens, so `mu_(1) = mu _(2).`
After passing through concave lens, rays bend
uniformaly to a single point, so `mu_(3) = mu _(4)=mu_(5), also mu_(2) lt mu_(3).`
