Let AE=x cm.
Then, `EC= (AC-AE)=(48.5x)cm`.
Now in , `Delta ABC, DE||BC`.
`:. (AD)/(DB) =(AE)/(EC)rArr (3)/(5)=(x)/((4.8 -x))`
`rArr 3(4.8-x)=5x rArr 8x=14.4`
`rArr x=1.8`
Hence, `AE=1.8cm`
