A metallic block weighs `15 N` in air. It weights `12 N` when immersed in water and `13 N` when immersed in another liquid. What is the specific gravity of the liquid?

A

36g

B

48g

C

64g

D

80g

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
D

Let m be the mass and V be the volume of the body. Let `sigma` and `rho` be the density of liquid and water respectively .
` therefore mg - sigma Vg = 44g`
`mg - 1.2 rho Vg = 44g ` …(i)
and mg ` - rho Vg = 50 g ` …(ii)
Solving (i) and (ii) ,we get m = 80 g
