(i) The Congress ministers resigned from the office in 1937.
(i) The Second World War started in 1939. Mahatma Gandhi and Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru started criticising Hitler and his policies. Both wanted to support the British on the condition that the British should promise independence to the Indians after the end of the war. The British refused their proposal. As a result Congress ministers resigned in protest in October, 1939.
