What is dead space air ?

Explanation

During normal breathing about 500 ml of air is inspired (tidal volume ) by an average adult human being.
Only about 350 ml of air enters the lungs alveoli for the exchange of gases and remaining 150 ml fills the respiratory passage . The latter is often called dead air space.
