In a dihybrid cross, white eyed, yellow ...

In a dihybrid cross, white eyed, yellow bodied female Drosophila was crossed with red eyed, brown bodied male Drosophila. The cross produced `1*3` percent recombinants and `98*7` progeny with parental type combinations in the `F_(2)` generation. Analyze the above observation and compare with the Mendelian dihybrid cross.

`{:("White eyed & Yellow bodied",xx,"Red eyed & Brown bodied"),("Female",,"Male"),("aa bb",,a^(+)a^(+)b^(+)b^(+)):}`
In `F_(2)` generation, the cross produced `1-3%` recombinants and `98*7%` parental type progency. The genes for eye colour and body colour were located on the same chromosome i.e., there are tightly linked.
In Mendelian dihybrid cross, genes for two characters were on different chromosomes and hence, displayed `9:3:3:1` progeny with parental and recombinants in different ratio.
