Flowers of garden pea are bisexual and self pollinated. Therefore, it is difficult to perform hybridization experiment by crossing a particular pistill with the specific pollen grains. How Mendal made it possible in his monohybrid, dihybrid and trihybrid crosses?

It is true that the flowers of garden pea are bisexual. However, Mendel made these flowers unisexual by artificail means. He emasculated (i.e., removed anthers before maturation) bisexual flowers to make then female fowers. Collected pollen grains from thses whcih were regarded functional male flowers. Thus, the pollen grains of spcifice male flowers are dusted over the stigma of emasculated flowr (female flower) to complete the process of hybridization. Finally the seesds were collected and sown to obtain `F_(1)` plants.

Given below are five statements (i-v) regarding constrivances to ensure cross - pollination is plants (i) Dicliny - Anthers stigmas mature at different times in a bisexual flower. (ii) Dichogamy - Flowers are unisexual. (iii) Prepotency - Pollen grains of the same flower germinate more rapidly over the stigma than the pollen grains another flower. (iv) Heterostyly - Two or three types of flowers with different heights of styles. (v) Herkogamy - A mechanical device to prevent self - pollination which of the above statement are correct ?

Mendel was the first scientist to study the pattern of inheritance. He is known as the father of genetics and proposed the laws of inheritance. He selected pea plants (Pisum sativum) to carry out his study on the inheritance of characters from parents to offspring. Mendel carried the process of self-pollination followed by cross-pollination in his experiment. A cross between two plants, which differs in only one pair of contrasting characters is called _______
