Explanation

(i) Minisatellites have sequences of approximately 15 to 50 base pairs and repeated tandemly upto thousands of times. There are about 30,000 minisatellites loci in the human genome. (ii) Microsatellites have base pairs of less than 10 and repeated usually 10 to 100 times. In himan genome, there are about 2,00,000 such satellite loci. These simple tandem repeats of short sequences are called VNTRs (variable number Tandem repeats).
