A piece of foreign DNA, once established inside the bacterial, plant or animal cell by the genetic engineering DNA in a heterolgous host, is called recombinent protein. These cells having rDNA are grown on a small scale in the laboratory to obtain recombinant protein. However, large scale production of the product is carried out in bioreactors.
