Various zones of a lake are littoral zone (shallow water zone ) , limnetic zone (of variable depth upto which light can penetrate) , dark zone , i.e, profundal zone and bottom called benthic zone . Littoral zone has producers : limnetic zone both producers and macroconsumers , profundal zone has consumers and benthic zone has microconsumers and macroconsumers .
