The end correction of a resonance column...

The end correction of a resonance column is 1 cm. If the shortest length resonating with the tunning fork is 10 cm, the next resonating length should be :

A

32 cm

B

40 cm

C

28 cm

D

36 cm

The correct Answer is:
A

Given : e = 1 cm
For the first resonance
`(lambda)/(4) = l_(1) + e = 11` cm
For the second resonance
`(3 lambda)/(4) = l_(2) + e rArr l_(2) = 3 xx 11 - 1 = 32` cm
Hence option (a) is correct.
