A solution of urea in water has a boiling point `101.128^(@)C` .Calculate the freezing point of the same solution . Molal constant for water ,`k_(f)` and `k_(b)` are `1.86K m^(-1)` and `0.512K m^(-1)` respectively.

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
`-4.1^(@)C`

`Delta T_(b) = 101.128 - 100 = 1.128^(@)`
` m = (Delta T_(b))/(k_(b)) = (1.128)/(0.512) = 2.203 m`
` Delta T_(f) = k_(f) xx m = 1.86 xx 2.203 = 41`
Freezing point of solution ` = 0 - 4.1 = - 4.1^(@)C`
