Why a person suffering from high blood pressure is advised to take minimum quantity of common salt?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The osmotic pressure is increase with the amount of solute. Since the body fluid contains `Na^(+)` and `Cl^(-)` ions and if we take more salt, the concentration of these ison will increase leading to high osmotic pressure. The high osmotic pressure may causes rupture of the cells. Therefore , the patients suffering from high blood pressure are advised to take less of common salt.
