Let the weight perecent of toluene in solution is x. This means x g of toluene are present in 100 g of solution .
Wt . Of toluene = x g .
Wt. of benzene = (100- x) g
Mol.wt of benzene `(C_(6)H_(6))` = 78
Mol.wt of toluene `(C_(6)H_(5)CH_(3))` = 92
Now `" "(n_(t))/(n_(t) + n_(b)) = 0.5`
`((x)/(92))/((x)/(92) + ((100-x))/(78)) = 0.5`
`((x)/(92))/((78x + 92(100-x))/(92xx78)) = 0.5`
`(x)/(92) xx (92 xx78)/(78x +92(100-x)) = 0.5`
`78x = 39 x + 4600 - 46x`
`85 x = 4600`
`therefore " " x =54.1`
`therefore" "` Wt% of toluene = 54.1
