Why is ester hydrolysis slow iin the beginning but is fast after sometime ?

In the hydrolysis of ester, carboxylic acid formed in the reaction acts as autocatalyst . Thus the reaction is slow in the bringing and becomes faster after some time due to the formation of acid which acts as catalyst.
