A body of mass 'm' is kept on the horizontal floor and it is pushed in the horizontal direction with a force of 10N continuously, so that it moves steadily. (a) Draw FBD (a diagram showing all the forces acting on the body at a point of time) (b) What is the value of friction ?

Given tht the body is moving steadily, Hence the net force on the body is zero both in horizontal and vertical directions. Forces acting on it along horizontal direction are force of friction (f), force of push (F) We know the `f _(n et,x) =0` `F + (-f) =0` `F =f` Hence the vlaue of force of friction is 10N.

A block of mass m slips on a rough horizontal table under the action of horiozontal force applied to it. The coefficient of friction between the block and the table is mu . The table does not move on the floor. Find the total frictional force aplied by the floor on the legs of the table. Do you need the friction coefficient between the table and the floor or the mass of the table ?
A body of mass M is kept on a rough horizontal surface (friction coefficient =μ). A person is trying to pull the body by applying a horizontal force but the body is not moving. The force by the horizontal surface on the surface of the body is F, where
A block of mass 2.5 kg is kept on a rough horizontal surface. It is found that the block does not slide if a horizontal force less than 15 N is applied to it. Also it is found that it takes 5 seconds to slide through the first 10 m if a horizontal force of 15 N is applied and the block is gently pushed to start the motion. Taking g=10 m/s^2 , calculate the coefficient of static and kinetic friction between the block and the surface.
Shows a situation similar to the previous problem. All parameters are the same except that a battery of emf epsilon and a variable resistance R are connected wires. Let theta be the angle made by the rod from the horizontal position (shown in the figurer), measuredin the clockwise direction. During the part of the motion Oltthetaltpi/4 the only forces acting on the rod are gravity and the forces exerted by the magnetic field and the pivot. However, during the part of the motion, the resistance R is varied in such a way that the rod continues to rotate with a constant angular velocity omega . Find the value of R in terms of the given quantities.
