A research team sends a sonar signal to confirm the depth of a sea. They heard an echo after 6s.Find the depth of the sea. an echo after 6s.Find the depth of the sea m/s?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Let the depth of the sea = d m
Then Total distance
travelled by sonar signal `(s) = 2d`
`=1500 m//s`
Total time taken `(t) = 6s`
From, `s= ut`,
`2d=1500 m//s xx 6s`
`d=9000//2 m=4.5` km

An ultrasound signal of frequency 50 kHz is sent vertically into sea water. The signal gets reflected from the ocean bed and returns to the surface 0.80 s after it was emitted. The speed of sound in sea water is 1500ms^-1 . a) Find the depth of the sea. b) What is the wavelength of this signal in water.

A strong sound signal is sent from a ship towards the bottom of the sea. It is received back after 1s. What is the depth of sea given that the speed of sound in water 1450ms^(-1) ?

A ship in a sea sends SONAR waves straight down into the seawater from the bottom of the ship. The signal reflects from the deep bottom bed rock and returns to the ship after 3.5 s. After the ship moves to 100 Km it sends another signal which returns back after 2s. Calculate the depth of the sea in each case and also compute the difference in height between two cases.

An ultrasonic wave is sent from a ship towards the bottom of the sea. It is found that the time interval between the .transmission and reception of the wave is 1.6 seconds. What is the depth of the sea, if the velocity of sound in the seawater is 1400 ms^(-1) ? Time interval between sending and receiving of the wave, t = 1.6 s Velocity of sound in sea wave, V = 1400 ms^(-1) To find : Depth of the sea, d = ?
