The terminal velocity of a copper ball o...

The terminal velocity of a copper ball of radius 2.0 mm falling through a tank of oil at `20^@C` is `6.5 cm s^-1`. Compute the viscosity of the oil at `20^@C`. Density of oil is `1.5 times 10^3kg m^-3`.density of copper is `8.9 times 10^3 kg m^-3`.

We have `v_1=6.5 times 10^2 ms^-1,a=2 times 10^3m `
`g=9.8 ms^-2,p=8.9 times 10^3 kg m^-3`
`sigma=1.5 times 10^3 kg m^-3`. From Eq. (10.20)
`eta=2/9 times ((2 times 10^-3)^2 m^2 times 9.8 ms^-2)/(6.5 times 10^-2 ms^-1) times 7.4 times 10^3 kg m^-3`
`=9.9 times 10^-1 kg m^-1 s^-1`

A copper ball of radius 3.0 mm falls in an oil tank of viscosity 1kg/ms. Then, the terminal velocity of the copper ball will be ( Density of oil =1.5xx10^(3)kg//m^(3) , Density of copper =9xx10^(3)kg//m^(3) and g=10m//s^(2) .)

In Millikan's oil drop experiment. What is the terminal speed of an uncharged drop of radius 2.0 times 10^-5 m and density 1.2 times 10^3 kg m^-3 . Take the viscosity of air at the temperature of the experiment to be 1.8 times 10^-5 Pa s . How much is the viscosity force on the drop at that speed? Neglect buoyancy of the drop due to air.

Glycerine flows steadly through a horizontal tube of length 1.5 m and radius 1.0 cm. IF the amount of glycerine collected per second at one end is 4.0 times 10^-3 kg s^-1 . What is the pressure difference between the two ends of the tube?(density of glycerine =1.3 times 10^3 kg m^-3 and viscosity of glycerine =0.83 Pa s).[You may also like to check If the assumption of laminar flow in the tube is correct]
