Two narrow bores of diameters 3.00mm and 6.0mm are joined together to form a U-tube open at both ends. If the U-tube contains water, what is the difference in its levels in the two limbs of the tube? Surface tension of water at the temperature of the experiment is `7.3 times 10^-2 N m^-1`.Take the angle of contact to be zero and density to water to be `1.0 times 10^3 kg m^-3`

For the first bore, pressure difference (between the concave and convex side)=`2 times 7.3 times 10^-3/3 times 10^-3=48.7 Pa` Similarly for the second base, pressure difference =97.3 Pa Consequently the level difference in the two bores is `(48.7//(10^3 times 9.8)) m=5.0mm`
the level in the narrower bore is higher.(Note for zero angle of contract, the radius of the meniscus equals of the bore. The concave side of the surface in each bore is at 1atm)

Two tubes of same length and diameters 4mm and 8mm are joined together to form a U-shaped tube open at both the ends. If the U-tube contains water, then the difference between the levels of water in the two lims of the tube is (Surface tension of water at the temperature of experiment is 7.3 xx 10^(-2) Nm^(-1) , angle of contact = 0^(@) , density of water = 1.0 xx 10^(3) kg m^(-3) and acceleration due to gravity = 10 ms^(-2) )

The lower end of a capillary tube of diameter 2.00mm is dipped 8.00cm below the surface of water in a beaker. What is the pressure required in the tube in order to blow a hemispherical bubble at its end in water? The surface tension of water at temperature of the experiments is 7.30 times 10^2 Nm^-1 .1 atmospheric pressure =1.01 times 10^5 Pa density of water =1000 kg//m^3,g=9.80 ms^-2 . Also calculate the excess pressure.

What should be the radius of a capillary tube if water has to rise to a height of 6 cm in it? (Surface tension of water- 7.2 times 10^-2 Nm^-1 )
