Explain the .Conduction band. .Valence band. and .Energy gap. in semiconductors.

Energy gap is finite but small. It is less than 3eV. Because of small energy gap, at room temperature some electrons from valance band can acquire enough energy to cross the energy gap and enter the conduction band.
These electrons (small in number) can move in the conduction band.
