The hydrogen ion concentration of a frui...

The hydrogen ion concentration of a fruit juice is `3.3xx 10^(-2) M`. What is the pH of the juice ? Is it acidic or basic ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The definition of pH is
We are given `[H^(+)]=3.3xx10^(-2)`
Substituting into the definition of pH, we get
`pH=-log(3.3xx10^(-2))`
`=-(-1.48)=1.48`
Since the pH is less than 7.00, the solution is acidic.
