Suppose you have two coins which appear identical in your pocket. You know that, one is fair and one is 2-headed. If you take one out, toss it and get a head, what is the probability that it was a fair coin ?

You are given four sources of light each on providing a light of a single colour - red, blue green and yellow. Suppose the angle o refraction for a beam of yellow ligh corresponding to a particular angle o incidence at the interface of two media is 90° Which of the following statements is correct i the source of yellow light is replaced with tha of other lights without changing the angle o incidence ?

A bag containsa red ball a blue ball and an yellow ball, all the balls being of the same size. Manasa takes out a ball fromthe bag without looking into it. What is the probability that she takes a (i) yellow ball? (ii) red ball? (iii) blue ball?

One urn contains two black balls (labelled B_(1) and B_(2) ) and one white ball. A second urn contains one black ball and two white balls (labelled W_(1) , and W_(2) ). Suppose the following experiment is performed. One of the two urns is chosen at random. Next a ball is randomly chosen from the urn. Then a second ball is chosen at random from the same urn without replacing the first ball. (i) Write the sample space showing all possible outcomes (ii) What is the probability that two black balls are chosen ? (iii) What is the probability that two balls of opposite colour are chosen ?

Outcomes of which of the following experiments are equally likely? 1. Getting a digit 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 when a die is rolled. Selecting a different colour ball from a bag of 5 red balls, 4 blue balls and 1 black ball. Winning in a game of carrom. Units place of a two digit number selected may be 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9. Selecting a different colour ball from a bag of 10 red balls, 10 blue balls and 10 black balls. Raining on a particular day of July

A bag contains a red ball, a black ball, a yellow ball and a white ball. One ball is selected randomly and note its colour and then put it into the bag. Again second ball is selected and note its colour. Write the sample space for this experiment. Hence, describe the following events : (1) A: Selected both the balls are of same colours. (2) B: Only one ball is white. (3) C: At least one ball is white. (4) D: Both the balls are of different colour. Hence, find AnnB,BuuC,AuuD,AnnD . What can we say about the events B and C ? What can we say about the events A and D?

A bag contains five green marbles, three blue marbles, two red marbles, and two yellow marbles. One marble is drawn out randomly. a) Are the four different colour outcomes equally likely? Explain. b) Find the probability of drawing each colour marble i.e. , P(green), P(blue), P(red) and P(yellow) c) Find the sum of their probabilities.

One hard and stormy night you find yourself lost in the forest when you come upon a small hut. Entering it you see a crooked old woman in the corner hunched over a crystal ball. You are about to make a hasty exit when you hear the howl of wolves outside. Taking another look at the gyspy you decide to take your chances with the wolves, but the door is jammed shut. Resigned to a bad situation you approach her slowly, wondering just what is the focal length of that nifty crystal ball. The old lady moves the crystal ball closer to her wrinkled old face. At some point you can no longer get an image of her . At what object distance will there be no change of the gypsy formed?

An urn contains nine balls of which three are red, four are blue and two are green. Three balls are drawn at random without replacement from the urn. The probability that the three balls have different colour, is
