An aeroplane leaves an airport and flies due north at a speed of 1000 km per hour. At the same time, another aeroplane leaves the same airport and flies due west at a speed of 1200 km per hour. How far apart will be the two planes after 1(1)/(2) hours?

An aeroplane leaves an airport and flies due west at a speed of 2100 km per hour. At the same time, another aeroplane leaves the same airport and flies due south at a speed of 2000 km per hour. How far apart will be the two planes after 1 hours?

Form the pair of linear equations in the following problems and find their solutions (if they exist) by any algebraic method: Places A and B are 100 km apart on a highway. One car starts from A and another from B at the same time. If the cars travel in the same direction at different speeds, they meet in 5 hours. If they travel towards each other, they meet in 1 hour. What are the speeds of the two cars?

A particle is projected vertically upwards with a speed of 16ms^-1 . After some time, when it again passes through the point of projection, its speed is found to be 8ms^-1 . It is known that the work done by air resistance is same during upward and downward motion. Then the maximum height attained by the particle is (take g=10ms^-2 )

An object A of mass 1 kg is projected vertically upward with a speed of 20 m//s . At the same moment another object B of mass 3 kg , which in intially above the object A, is dropped from a height h = 20 m . The two point like objects (A and B) collision and stick to each other. The kinetic energy is K (in J) of the combined mass after collision, find the value of K//25 .

Two trains start from the same place. A person travel in a train whose speed is 50 km/h and it go to south direction. Another person travel in another train whose speed is 60 km/h and it go to west direction. After two hours, find the rate of distance between them.

Places A and B are 100 km apart from each other on a highway. A car starts from A and another from B at the same time. If they move in the same direction, they meet in 10 hours, but if they move towards each other they meet in 1 hour 40 minutes. Find the speeds of the cars.

An explosion breaks a rock into three parts in a horizontal plane. Two of them go off at right angles to each other. The first part of mass 1 kg moves with a speed of 12 ms^(-1) and the second part of mass 2 kg moves with 8 ms^(-1) speed. If the third part flies off with 4 ms^(-1) speed, then its mass i s .....

Two trains leave a railway station at the same time. The first train travels towards west and the second train towards north. The first train travels 5 km/hr faster than the second train. If after two hours they are 50 km. apart, find the average speed of each train.

Two trains A and B of length 400 m each are moving on two parallel tracks with a uniform speed of 72 km h^(-1) in the same direction, with A ahead of B. The driver of B decides to overtake A and accelerates by 1 m s^(-2) . If after 50 s, the guard of B just brushes past the driver of A, what was the original distance between them ?
