The following table gives the distribution of students of two sections according to the marks obtained by them: Represent the marks of the students of both the sections on the same graph by two frequency polygons. From the two polygons compare the performance of the two sections.

Take two identical trays and fill them with soil. Plant mustard or green gram or paddy in one of the trays and water both the trays regularly for a few days, till the first tray is covered by plant growth. Now, tilt both the trays and fix them in that position. Make sure that both the trays are tilted at the same angle. Pour equal amount of water gently on both trays such that the water flows out of the trays. Now pour equal amounts of water on both the trays from a height. Pour three or four the amount that you poured earlier. Study the amount of soil that is carried out of the trays now. Is the amount the same in both the trays ?

(b) If she reads Hindi newspaper, find the probability that she reads English newspaper (c) If she reads English newspaper, find the probability that she reads Hindi newspaper.

Form the pair of linear equations in the following problems and find their solutions (if they exist) by any algebraic method: Places A and B are 100 km apart on a highway. One car starts from A and another from B at the same time. If the cars travel in the same direction at different speeds, they meet in 5 hours. If they travel towards each other, they meet in 1 hour. What are the speeds of the two cars?

Suppose you have two coins which appear identical in your pocket. You know that, one is fair and one is 2-headed. If you take one out, toss it and get a head, what is the probability that it was a fair coin ?

A teacher wanted to analyse the performance of two sections of students in a mathematics test of 100 marks. Looking at their performances, she found that a few students got under 20 marks and a few got 70 marks or above. So she decided to group them into intervals of varying sizes as follows: 0 - 20, 20-30, .... 60-70, 70 - 100 Then she formed the following table :

The resistance of two electrolytes X and Y ere found to be 45 and 100 respectively when equal volumes of both the solutions were taken in the same cell in two different experiments. If equal volumes of these solutions are mixed in the same cell, what will be the conductance of the mixture?

Take an empty bottle of the sort in which bottled water is sold. Pour about 5-10 mL of water into it and close the bottle tightly. Shake it well or leave it out in the sun for ten minutes. This causes the air in the bottle to be saturated with water vapour. Now, take a lighted incense stick. Open the cap of the bottle and allow some of the smoke from the incense sticks to enter the bottle. Quickly close the bottle once more. Make sure that the cap is fitting tightly. Press the bottle hard between your hands and crush it as much as possible. Wait for a few seconds and release the bottle. Again press the bottle as hard as you can. Now answer the following questions : What might happen you do the experiment without the smoke from the incense stick? Now try it and check if the prediction was correct. What might be happening in the above experiment in the absence of smoke particles?

(b) If you can change location of the point A on the wall and hence the orientation of the string OA without altering the orientation of the string OB as shown in figure-II. what angle should the string OA make with the wall so that a minimum tension is developed in it?
