For a projectile launched with velocity `v_(@)` at an angle `theta_(@)` , the range is given by
`R=(v_(0)^(2)sin2theta_(0))/(g)`
Now , for angles , `(45^(@)+alpha)and(45^(@)-alpha),2theta_(0)` is `(90^(@)+2alpha)and(90^(@)-2alpha)`, respectively . The values of `sin(90^(@)+2alpha)andsin(90^(@)-2alpha)` are the same , equal to that of `cos2alpha`. Therefore , ranges are equal for elevations which exceed of fall short of `45^(@)` by equal amounts `alpha`.

Two poles of equal heights are standing opposite to each other on either side of the road, which is 120 feet wide. From a point between them on the road, the angles of elevation of the top of the poles are 60^(@) and 30^(@) respectively. Find the height of the poles and the distances of the point from the poles.

Two poles of equal heights are standing opposite each other on either side of the road, which is 80m wide. From a point between them on the road, the angles of elevation of the top of the poles are 60^(@) and 30^(@) , respectively. Find the height of the poles and the distances of the point from the poles.

In changing the state of a gas adiabatically from an equilibrium state A to another equilibrium state B, an amount of work equal to 22.3 J is done on the system. If the gas is taken from state A to B via process in which the net heat absorbed by the system is 9.35 cal, how much is the net work done by the system in the latter case ? (Take 1 cal = 4.19 )

When a particle is undergoing motion, the diplacement of the particle has a magnitude that is equal to or smaller than the total distance travelled by the particle. In many cases the displacement of the particle may actually be zero, while the distance travelled by it is non-zero. Both these quantities, however depend on the frame of reference in which motion of the particle is being observed. Consider a particle which is projected in the earth's gravitational field, close to its surface, with a speed of 100sqrt(2) m//s , at an angle of 45^(@) with the horizontal in the eastward direction. Ignore air resistance and assume that the acceleration due to gravity is 10 m//s^(2) . The motion of the particle is observed in two different frames: one in the ground frame (A) and another frame (B), in which the horizontal component of the displacement is always zero. Two observers locates in these frames ill agree on :-

Galileo’s law of odd numbers : “The distances traversed, during equal intervals of time, by a body falling from rest, stand to one another in the same ratio as the odd numbers beginning with unity [namely, 1: 3: 5: 7…...].” Prove it.

One body is suspended from a spring of length l , spring constant k and has time period T , Now if spring is divided in two equal parts which are joined in paralled and the same body is suspended from this arrangements then determine new time period.

A particle is projected with velocity 2(sqrt(gh)) , so that it just clears two walls of equal height h which are at a distance of 2h form each other. Show that the time of passing between the walls is 2 (sqrt (h/g)). [Hint : First find velocity at height h. Treat it as initial velocity and 2h as the range. ]

One mole of a monoatomic ideal gas occupies two champers of a cylinder partioned by means of a movable pision. The walls of the cylinder as well as the piston are thermal insulators. Initially equal amounts of gas fill both the chambers at ( P_(0), V_(0), T_(0) ). A coil is burnt in the left chamber which absorbs heat and expands , pushing the piston to the right . The gas on the right chamber is compressed until to pressure becomes 32 P_(0) . The work done on the gas in the right chamber is
