A narrow sound pulse (for example, a short pip by a whistle) is sent across a medium (a) Does the pulse have a definite (i) frequency (ii) wavelength (iii) speed of propagation? (b) If the pulse rate is 1 after every 20s. (that is the whistle is blown for a split of second after every 20s), is the frequency of the note produced by the whistle equal to 1/20 or 0.05Hz?

(a) The pulse does not have a definite wavelength or frequency, but has a definite speed of propagation (in a non-dispersive medium).
(b) No

A man sitting in a moving train hears the whistle of the engine. The frequency of the whistle is 600 Hz

Stationary waves are produced in 10 m long stretched string. If the string vibrates in 5 segments and wave velocity 20 m/s then the frequency is :-

Write the relation between wavelength, frequency and speed of sound (AS_1)

A source whistling a sound of frequency 450 Hz moves towards a stationary listener with a speed of 33 m/s. If velocity of sound is 333 m/s, then find frequency of sound heard by this listener.

The sounds of frequency less than 20 Hz are known as
