What is Rectification? Describe with a circuit diagram the working of a p-n junction diode as half wave rectifier with input and output waveforms.

Working : During one half of the input a.c. the diode is forward biased and a current flows through R. During the other half of the input a.c. the diode is reverse biased and no current flows through the load `R_1` Hence, the given a.c. input is rectified.
