Hydrogen ions are responsible for conduction of electricity in aqueous solution. Ionic compounds dissociate hydrogen ions in its aqueous solution, thus conducting electricity.
But aqueous solution of glucose and alcohol do not dissociate hydrogen ions in their aqueous solution, as they are covalent compounds. That.s why these solutions do not conduct electricity. This activity proves that alcohol and glucose are not acids though they contain hydrogen these do not dissociate hydrogen ions in their aqueous solution.
Activity to prove it :
(i) Take solutions of glucose, alcohol, hydrochloric acid, sulphuric acid, etc.
(ii) Fix two nails on a cork, and place the cork in a 100 ml beaker.
(iii) Connect the nails to the two terminals of a 6 volt battery through a bulb and a switch, as shown in fig.
(iv) Now pour some dilute HCl in the beaker and switch on the current.
(v) Repeat with dilute sulphuric acid.
(vi) Repeat the experiment separately with glucose and alcohol solutions.

The bulb glows in acids.
Glucose and alcohol solutions do not conduct electricity. Hence the bulb does not glow.
Glowing of the bulb indicates that there is a flow of electric current through the solution. The electricity current is carried through the solution by ions.
Since the cation present in acids is `H^(+)`, this suggest that acids produce hydrogen ions (`H^(+)`(aq)) in solution, which are responsible for their acidic properties.
