The soil in a field in highly acidic. List any two materials which can be added to this soil to reduce its acidity. Give the reason for your choice.

(i) Lime (CaO) calcium oxide is added to neutralise its acidity.
(ii) Chalk `(CaCO_(3))` calcium carbonate can also be added to neutralise its acidity. This is because both CaO and `CaCO_(3)` are basic in nature which neutralise acid present in soil.
