By what percentage will the transmission range of a T.V. tower be affected when the height of the tower is increased by 21% ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The distance (d) of TV coverage is given by
`d = sqrt(2hR)`
When height of the tower (h) is increased by 21%
Then, `h_(1) = 1.21 h`
`:. D_(1) sqrt(2h_(1) R) d_(1) = sqrt(2 xx 1.2 IHR) = 1.1 sqrt(2hR)`
`d_(1) = 1.1 d = 1.10 d`
`:.` TV coverage is increased by 10%
