How would the angular separation of interference fringes in Young's double slit experiment change when the distance of separation between slits and screen is doubled ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Fringe width `(beta)` is given by
`beta =(lambda D)/d`.
When D is double
`:. Beta_(1)=(2lambda D)/d=2 beta`
Fringe width becomes twice.
