(i) State the law that gives the polarity of the induced emf.
(ii) A `15.0 muF` capacitor is connected to 220 V, 50 Hz source. Find the capacitive reactance and the rms current.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

(i) Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction :
(ii) `C=15.0 muF=15xx10^(-6) F`
`V=220 V, f=50 Hz`
Capacitive reactance,
`X_(C)=1/(wC)=1/(2 pi fC)=1/(2xx3.14xx50xx15xx10^(-6))=10^(6)/(314xx15)=1000000/4710=212.31 Omega`
`:. I_(rms)=V/X_(C)=220/212.31=1.03A`.
