A plane electromagnetic wave travels in ...

A plane electromagnetic wave travels in vacuum along z-direction. What can you say about the direction of electric and magnetic field vectors?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

In electromagnetic wave, the electric field vector `overset(to)E` and magnetic field vector `overset(to) B` show their variations perpendicular to the direction of propagation of wave as well as perpendicular to each other. As the electromagnetic wave is travelling along z-direction, hence `overset(to)Eand overset(to)B`.
